Wellness Round Up: Cannabis at the Spa, Saks' Wellness Upgrades and Celebrity Cruise's Spa Venture

Wellness Weekly Round-up

Each week we pull together our top articles on the latest in the spa, wellness and hospitality industries.

Innovation: Introducing Cannabis Spa Treatments

With the legalization of cannabis set for this summer in Canada, it is not surprising that wellness entrepreneurs are tapping into the cannabis market. Cindy Sovine, owner of Utopia All Natural Wellness Spa and Lounge in Denver, is opening America’s first ever, legal, “Cannabis Spa”. Her and other cannabis centred spas are offering everything from cannabis friendly fitness programs to massages with CBD oil to “hash baths” where teabags stuffed with cannabis leaves and other essences are used for deep healing soaks.

Trending: Saks Fifth Avenue Redesign Their Wellness and Beauty Floor

International renowned retailer Saks Fifth Avenue has jumped on the wellness wagon. This week they introduced a 32,000 square foot beauty floor in their New York store that includes 15 spa treatment rooms providing medi-spa treatments, facials, massages and manicures.  The enormous experiential space will host various beauty and wellness events, panels, and workshops to ensure clients aren’t just purchasing products but wholeheartedly embracing the power of wellness itself.

Design Inspiration: Celebrity Edge Takes Wellness to the Sea

This weeks biggest spa design story comes from the Celebrity Edge luxury cruise that has launched a full service spa with more amenities that most on-land spas can offer. Interior designer Kelly Hoppen developed a relaxing fusion of marble and taupe wood, a crystalarium, an infrared sauna, a turkish hammam bath, a halo therapy salt room, a rainfall room, a float zen zone, and even basket chairs to sway peacefully over the ocean. The spa menu itself is something to write home about, including the typical massage, facial and body treatments but also offering LED and galvanic BIOTEC treatments, boxing, barre, breath work, acupuncture and a juice bar. We anticipate a new trend in the cruise industry.
